Western alienation in Canada

This is not just a question of Alberta. Many people all over the world wants to separate from others. The UK wants to separate from Europe. The Catalans want to separate from Spain. And some in Alberta want to separate from Canada. Just to mention a few. The people in these places are being hurt economically especially after the big crash of capitalism in 2008-2009. The standard of living has plummeted for many. People are angry, bitter and resented for their situation. They turn to blame “others”. It is because of others that they are doing bad. Politicians and the media take the ride in fostering these sentiments. The economic system itself never comes to question. The neoliberal and neoconservative economic policies are slashing the working class all over the world. Look at the Yellow Wests in France, the revolts in Lebanon recently and in Chile. People are fed up. But capitalism is never to blame. It does not enter the realm of debate, much less political discourse. These separatist movements may proceed in some of these places, but in itself leaves untouched the underlying economic system. Nothing will change. Capitalism is great for the 1-10%, but it is leaving behind the masses and it is being felt dearly.
